Flat Stanley LOVES Glenwood!

Over the Summer, our class read Stanley's World Wide Adventure #9: US Capital Commotion. When we returned to school, we could not wait to make our very own Flat Stanleys and Stellas! Each student made three Stanleys, wrote a letter, and mailed him out to friends all over the world. Stanley will even be visiting Australia! Wow! I can't wait to get the letters back!

We also showed Flat Stanley around Glenwood! We love to brag about our FABULOUS school and teachers!

Classroom Makeover

I am so incredibly excited to get this school year started off in a fabulous way! This year, my classroom theme is "How Sweet it is to be in Second Grade!" I used bright colors and patterns to make different sweet things in the room. Here are some pictures:

Early Mother's Day Surprise!

Why do you love your mom?

Jump Rope For Heart

Our school participated in Jump Rope for Heart last week! This is a great program that encourages physical activity and friendly competition while raising money for a great cause. All money raised goes to the American Heart Association. Everyone at Glenwood competed to be selected as a class representative for the competition at Chapel. Our class representative was Claire! She did a fabulous job jumping her heart out!

The Sherwood Jump Rope Team showed us their moves!

Our Healthy Bodies!

Science is always one of our favorite things to study each day because we get to do fun projects! Last week, we wrapped up our Health study. We have learned about nutrition, healthy habits, and communicable diseases. I wanted to use all the facts we learned and make it into one big group project. So we made "Healthy Bodies." Check them out:
Lauren helped me trace one student from each group.
The boys remembered that eating nutritious foods is a great way to stay healthy.
Of course the girls didn't forget to write about keeping your fingernails clean and manicured!

Hanging Up our Second Grade Memories

Spring has officially sprung here at Glenwood, which is always bitter sweet for me. The weather is beautiful and I am seeing my students reach their goals that were set at the beginning of the year. It also means that I will soon be saying goodbye to another great class. My favorite memories from this year are visiting the Rock Ranch on one of our field trips, watching our class perform in the Christmas play, and singing "Tony Chestnut" just to name a few. For a Social Studies assignment, I had my class reflect on their favorite memories from this year. We made a cute bulletin to tell about our fun times!
